Welcome to Parrot Class! We are Year 5 & 6 and we are taught by Madame Ziebeck (Monday, Tuesday), Mrs Droy (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) and our Teaching Assistant is Miss Nessling. We can't believe how our first term flew by and all the great things we squeezed in to it! It's now the start of Term 2 and we have another term full of fun and learning instore, including out class trip to Oxford at the end of November and lots of Festive activities.
This term will have another Geography and History focus, with our Topic all about the Maya. Take a look at our topic map below to find out more about what else we'll be doing this term. Following our fab topic on Ancient Egypt we will be learning more about another amazing civilisation, this time from the Americas.
Can we remind you that waterproofs/wellies and PE kits should be in school everyday. PE will be outdoors so leggings/joggers and a hoody/sweatshirts should be in the kit (all plain black/dark blue). It might also be helpful to keep a spare pair of socks in their in case feet get wet.
As Parrot class are ‘top’ of the school we’ll be leading the way and setting a great example to all the other children about how we behave each day, demonstrating our really positive attitude to learning.
Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

In Science this term we will be finding our about Light. We'll be exploring how light travels and carrying out investigations that help us learn more about the topic.
Homework expectations
Homework will continue to be an important aspect of the children's learning during their time in Parrot Class. Children are expected to read daily (ideally to an adult), alongside completing a weekly READ task which is due on a Tuesday.
Children are also expected to work on their Maths Passport objectives, Key Maths Facts and spellings across the week as these will be assessed weekly.
Each half term a set of six pieces of homework will be sent home via Teams. These include Maths, English, Science and other activities, such as art. It is expected that all six pieces are completed by the due date (usually the last Tuesday of the term). If children need resources or support then they should speak to an adult in their class as soon as possible.
All our termly homework assignments and spellings are now on Teams, our platform for work and communications. If you have forgotten your email or password for logging on to Teams, please speak to a teacher.
