On Thursday 26th April 2018,We were very fortunate to meet author Robin Stevens who came to our school to visit years 4,5 and 6 as part of The Chipping Norton Literary Festival. Robin is the author of the Murder Most Unladylike Series and The Guggenheim Mystery sequel to The London Eye Mystery written by Siobhan Dowd
First she started talking about her youth and how she came to be a murder mystery author. After which, she told us about her travels to Hong Kong and the interesting different foods she ate there. She also went on to talk about how she got to go behind the scenes at Palace theatre in London which happens to be starring in her next book which is coming out in October this year.
Next, she told us about how we ourselves could write our very own murder mystery. To get us started and motivated with our murder writing we created a mystery altogether with Robin Stevens. We gave her ideas about the suspects, setting and victim, which she turned into a murder mystery story. After we discovered the murderer in our story that we created,Robin went on to tell us about her pet bearded dragon named after a famous detectives sidekick, Watson.
We then got the opportunity to ask some questions which she answered. After that she signed our newly bought books: Murder Most Unladylike; Arsenic for Tea; First Class Murder; Jolly Foul Play; Mistletoe and Murder; Cream Buns and Crime and A Spoonful of Murder. We were also given a Detective Society badges and a bookmark.

On the 25th of April, Louis, Archie and Mr Wootton went to a high school in Brockworth to compete the final of the knex challenge up against 128 people. We left school at around 11:30am and it was a long 45minute drive but it was worth it. When we arrived, we were a little early so we got told to sit and do the quiz we were given. After a while we had lunch. Next, we sat down and got told to build an outdoor gym with knex. After the hour we had we had built our wonderful outdoor gym. Sadly we didn’t win but I think we got a good place. We had a great afternoon at the competition.

Weston Park Visit
On the 26thof March 2018, Green Class went to Weston Park to learn more about WW2.
The first thing we did was look at an Anderson shelter, we went into it in groups of 4 and we had to carry a fake gas mask in a box. Then we went in a building and we received a ration book for clothes and food, we also got an I.D card and a name tag which we wrote our name on.
Afterwards, we went into the cinema to see some pictures of different families during the war. Next, we pretended that we were getting bombed - this lasted 4 minutes. Following this, we went into a building and had our lunch.
After lunch, we went upstairs and made some medals using clay, we also went in another room and dressed up for a bit in clothing that was worn during the war. Later on, we went into a 1940s room and talked about the things that are different now, compared to the time during the war.
Finally, we went on a bus home after a really interesting day. J

On Tuesday the 17th April, twelve pupils from Blue Class went to Cirencester Rugby Club. Including us, there were thirty teams but we only played against six of them. Most of us scored at least one try. We played three matched in the morning and three in the afternoon, with a delicious lunch in between. In the afternoon, we played on top of a very windy hill. Overall we had a great time and would love to do it again if it as warmer.
