We use Twinkl Phonics Programme at Bledington. It is a validated, Departed of Education approved structure programme which introduces letter sound, names and formation. Throughout a week we explore blending and segmenting using the focus sound whether it is single letters, digraphs (two letters) or trigraphs (three letters). We have attached the posters below show what you child will be learning this year. We start with Level 2 and progress to Level 3. In the summer term we will be moving onto Level 4 which is linked to consonant clusters and adjacent consonants. We spend the rest of the summer term consolidating what pupils have learned so they are ready to move on when they start Year 1.

Pronunciation of Letter Sounds

Mr Thorne does phonics is found on You Tube.  His video's are recommended by many phonic specialists as it shows how individual letters or blended letters are pronounced and how they are used in words. He uses a character called Geraldine the Giraffe to make it fun for your child. If you search for Mr Thorne Does Phonics and the letters you are looking for it will give you the youtube link.
