In Year 1, we continue to use the Twinkl Phonics Program. This year we will be working through Level 5. Lessons will include lots of opportunities to learn the focus sound/spelling rule/grammar rule. They explore the application over the week through blending and segmenting activities and practice reading a book including the focus sound/rule and tricky words.

Spelling homework will be set weekly on our online Teams platform. It will be set on a Monday and the test will be the following Monday. We would recommend your child practise their spelling 4 times per week, on different occasions. This will encourage your child to learn the spelling words and their spelling rules. We will send home a spelling homework book for your child to write their words in.
