Easter/Spring Gardens Competition
Gloucestershire Oracy Competition Class and School heats 2023
Our school is taking part in an Oracy competition for the first time. Each pupil had to think about a topic they would like to tell others about. They then had to research that topic, plan and write a presentation and prepare a two-minute speech to deliver to an audience. The topics were very wide, ranging from “Life on a farm” to “UFOs” and from “endangered species” to “Bananas”. There was something to keep everyone interested!
Children and adults judged the presenters using strict criteria, including:
- Have they prepared and practised?
- Were they engaging with their audience?
- Was their speech clear & pleasant with varied tone & pitch?
- Did they have good expression in their voice?
- Did their talk have impact and spark interest?
Three winners were chosen from each class and they then had to take part in the next stage of the competition which was to perform their speech in front of the whole school. The judges for this were Dr and Mrs Gilmour who were impressed by the variety and delivery of the presentations.
The three school winners were: Grace in KS1 (Friendship), Bella in LKS2 (Penguins) and Flora in UKS2 (The Ocean). They will represent us in the North Cotswold heats of the Oracy competition.

Extreme Reading Competition 2023
Pupils have found many wonderful and unusual places to read in.
We chose first and second lace in each class. Everyone got a certificate and prize for entering.
